Authorizing and Ratifying an Interlocal Service Agreement with the County of Middlesex for Roadway Milling



Financial Impact



              WHEREAS, the Township is engaged in certain roadway repair and repaving work which requires some amount of “milling” of certain Township roads; and


WHEREAS, milling is the controlled process of removing asphalt pavement to a predetermined depth, slope and or specified thickness, is often used to improve drainage flow and to remove pavement irregularities and is also used to remove deteriorated pavements for overlaying or to re-establish proper profile for existing and or/new concrete curb; and


WHEREAS, the County has agreed to assist the Township with the milling of certain roads included in the Township’s plans for the approximate cost not to exceed $49,870.08; and


              WHEREAS, the County and the Township are authorized to enter into an agreement to accomplish this purpose pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:65-1, et seq.; and


              WHEREAS, funds are available for this purpose and a certification of availability of funds has been provided by the Township Treasurer from Account No. 04-215-16-1716-810 by Joseph P. Monzo/jmb; and


              WHEREAS, the Department of Law is satisfied that said certification is in proper form and has reviewed the agreement and approves of same as to form;


              NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED on this 25th day of July, 2017, by the Township Council of the Township of South Brunswick, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, that:


1.       A shared services agreement with the County of Middlesex for the milling of certain Township roads shall be and is hereby authorized and ratified.

2.       The Mayor and Township Clerk shall be and are hereby authorized to execute the agreement with the County of Middlesex for the milling of certain Township roads.

3.       This agreement, in an approximate amount not to exceed $49,870.08, shall be charged to Account No 04-215-16-1716-810.

4.       A fully executed agreement shall remain on file with the Township Clerk.
